It was a strong start to the week in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Higher mill asking prices had buyers searching anxiously for any cheaper priced offerings leftover from last Friday. Seeing few, buyers stepped in as best as possible to cover immediate if not longer-term needs. Much of the demand and activity seen confirmed that the market was on solid footing and that the mills had a strong base from which to work from. Offerings from the mills were lite in comparison to weeks past but there were enough to fuel a good volume of orders.
