There was an uptick in demand in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday fueled by slightly lower prices in the marketplace. Clients were more willing to snap up deals and opportunities presented by the mills and distributors. Some of the items that have been tighter in supply recently were more readily available helping to spur the better activity seen. Busy retailers replenishing inventories also helped increase the volume of orders transacted. Eastern mill shipments are through next week with only two weeks thereafter to deliver material before the holiday break.
