Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Good demand led to a steady flow of orders in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday, nothing overwhelming but consistent. Prices wavered on 2x4 but were more stable on the other widths. Retailers continued to be busy having to replenish on a regular basis, relying heavily on the reloads to do so. Distributors have been very competitive making sure orders are directed to them as the mills are less likely to deliver this year. There has been a better supply of European spruce available as of late, challenging the eastern mills and influencing prices.
