Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

The lack of demand quieted activity last Friday to end the week in the eastern spruce lumber market. After a solid week of sales, the mills had fewer items they wanted to sell that also helped to diminish the number of transactions. Prices were stable on many items except for 2x4 which weakened. Too much supply on this item had the mills pushing to sell it but at the expense of price. Once sold the mills were quick to go off the market on it. Many mill deliveries are into the first weeks of the new year as they have commitments to get them through next week prior to shutting down for the holidays.
