Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Strong demand in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday kicked activity into high gear. Retailers wasted no time going after the items they needed, trying to beat up the mills in the process but having very little success to do so. The ability to getting lower prices was passe as the mills sold at will, what they had, at their asking. There was very little wiggle room to negotiate. Some mills still could deliver product before their holiday shutdowns next week, but those open timeslots seemed to be cooked by day’s end. Prices were firm especially on 2x4 which had been soft as of late.
