It was a quieter start to the week in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday as many were absent observing Martin Luther King Day in the U.S. The eastern mills were present in the market but with fewer items to sell than were expected. Prices were largely unchanged with more continuity among the items that were available from them. Demand was evident, especially for quicker needs. Distributors were in step with the market, not straying too far from mill asking numbers. Low grade items continued to be difficult to source with higher prices on what was available.
