Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Activity sprung to life on strong demand in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Buyers made decisions and bought some lumber, easily eclipsing the number of orders transacted from the previous day. Distributors and wholesalers were also more confident to buying, some filling voids or adding to inventories and others thinking that supply will tighten, and prices would appreciate. News out west of West Fraser closing their Fraser Lake sawmill helped spur the increased activity seen and felt throughout the day. Eastern mills quickly firmed up prices and sold more readily on this news.
