The eastern spruce lumber market showed renewed life yesterday. There was more buying interest which precipitated an increase of orders transacted. After watching the market all week and seeing little movement in prices, buyers decided it was time to do some purchasing. Seeing little sign of increased supply also helped boost confidence that prices were at advantageous levels to doing so. News of recent mill curtailments and ongoing log procurement issues point that supply will tighten. This does not bode well with expectations of demand and needs increasing in the future.
