Winter weather slowed activity and made for a lighter day of orders for traders in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. The mills though were very busy selling. They did not have to trade at lower prices either to attain the business transacted. Clients that did buy did so willingly and without trepidation, although there were plenty of firm offers attempted by distributors and hungry wholesalers to go around. By day’s end prices were up slightly with the mills having less to offer. Shipments from them stayed a good two weeks allowing time to plan accordingly.
