Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Solid demand propelled consistent activity and sales for the mills and distributors in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. The mills had much less to offer by day’s end putting added pressure on distributors to supply needs. Prices were firm and seemingly on the move keeping buyers on their toes sourcing and searching for material, most notably on 9’ and 10’ items. Late in the day, Interfor announced that it will immediately and indefinitely curtail its sawmill operations in Philomath, Oregon affecting hemlock and doug fir supply.
