Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Sales last week in the eastern spruce lumber market were good, consistent to what they have been in the previous weeks this year. Demand has been steady with adequate supply to offset, but there were signs last week that the balance between both were changing. Although eastern mill production has changed little, relative supply had a harder time keeping up with the increased demand seen. Prices on several items moved higher as a result. Clients on the other hand have kept inventories in check, replenishing as needed but the question is, are they prepared enough for any potential surge in business.
