There was a significant surge in demand and orders transacted in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Buyers scrambled to buy anything they considered viable. There was little hesitation to procure once something was found. Those waiting for the mills to come up with product were greatly disappointed. The lack of supply from them was more evident as the day progressed. Prices that had been inching up slowly increased momentum. Distributors found it more difficult to replenishing dwindling inventories, often having to wait longer to get and paying more for it.
