The high volume of sales and strong activity last Friday put an exclamation point on a very busy week in the eastern spruce lumber market. Higher published prices to end the week had buyers scurrying around for anything worthwhile pursuing. Traders were busy throughout the week, putting together orders with the mills and whatever distributor’s inventories they could bank on. It was evident that the lack of supply had its effect on quotes, pressuring buyers to react more quickly than they have been used to. The market had stamina, helping to build confidence among many in it.
