Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Widespread demand yesterday on many different items kept the eastern spruce lumber market humming. Higher mill asking prices slowed sales especially on the more often traded items, but it did not inhibit the activity in the market. Demand on low grade items was very strong with few options available from the mills. The price spread between these items and their higher-grade counterparts was large, making them inviting options in many applications and heavily sought after. Clients were willing to wait an extended amount of time to get, which in many circumstances did not make a difference.
