Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Increased demand, tight supply and higher prices all highlighted the activity seen in the eastern spruce lumber market last week. Orders were fewer on Friday as buyers waited to see what the mills would have available to start the new week with. Mill order files are two weeks with some only able to deliver in April, depending on the item. Some retailers voiced last week that their sales have not been as robust as the market has indicated, but their confidence was high that it was just a matter of time before it changes. This has kept their buying restrained, despite in the face of tight supply.
