Demand was strong to end last week in the eastern spruce lumber market although the number of orders transacted were less than expectations. Retailers were hesitant to go after higher priced material despite being busier and seeing better takeaway. Many opted to defer potential purchases to the new week with updated mill offering lists and more options available. The eastern mills did have some product on the market, but the variety and availability were limited and specific. Their order files on many items stretched into early April with few exceptions.
