Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

It was a more difficult day of trading in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Product was limited and what was available cost more. Traders ran into cheaper prices to compete against, muting successes. Eastern spruce prices have steadily increased over the last five weeks. It is reasonable to think that they might moderate, pause, and possibly retreat. Maybe some are trading with this mentality. Others may see things differently though, as supply remains tight, the mills have an order file and spring begins today along with the anticipation of a good building season and better demand ahead.
