Demand and activity were lite last week to begin the second quarter in the eastern spruce lumber market. Overall sales on the week were considerably less than the market has seen in recent weeks. The eastern mills struggled to find and obtain orders, sacrificing on price to do so. They resisted the larger counters hoping to find some middle ground on the items they wanted to sell, not often succeeding. What order files they did have dwindled considerably with many able to deliver product next week.
