Increased demand led to stronger activity and a high number of orders being transacted in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Field inventories have been decreasing steadily over the recent weeks along with the prices on many items. This has led to clients being poised and more willing to give firm offers to suppliers than has recently been seen. The mills needing and wanting orders played along by accepting some counters, but they were more resistant to them than they have been.
