Demand and activity were slow to get going in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. But once started, orders flowed generously to the mills and distributors alike. Good supply in the market acted as a catalyst allowing buyers and mills to find common ground to trade at. The lower prices that ensued helped ramp up interest and draw more buyers into the market. Late in the day news that Interfor was temporarily curtailing production at some mills also helped increase buyer reaction and activity.
