It was a mixed day of activity in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Sales were slow for the mills yet robust for distributors. Clients, though busy, kept to a philosophy of keeping inventories tight and manageable, filling in from the reloads for quicker deliveries rather than going to the mills for product further out. Despite the fewer orders, there was no sense that the mills were under any pressure to sell. They remained fast to their asking prices while not showing accumulations of any sort.
