It was another strong day of demand in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. The mills had lumber to sell and there were enough interested buyers to make it a busy day for sales as well. A potential Canadian rail strike along with wildfires erupting in the Canadian interior sparked concern that supply could be impacted. A growing sentiment among clients that it was more prudent not to take matters to chance compelled more of them to rethink their current inventory positions and buying philosophies.
