Sustained client demand spurred another active day in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. The dynamics of tight supply and product liquidity has kept the market on solid footing. Prices remained stable as a result. Rumblings from eastern mills on the cost and difficulty of getting logs has forced some to scale back production. Add to this the increasing problems of finding outlets for residuals, such as chips for one, does not bode well on future eastern lumber supply. Western mills have been dealing with similar problems.
