Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Sales slowed to end last week in the eastern spruce lumber market after a strong week of sales. The mills saw steady demand and activity throughout the week. There was adequate supply from them to keep prices primarily unchanged. Mill order files are generally two weeks with some items able to ship sooner. Buying philosophies continued to prioritize keeping inventories tight, although there were good arguments to the contrary. The Canadians are celebrating Victoria Day today with several mills closed.
