There were no surprises to end last week in the eastern spruce lumber market. Transactions were lite as many anticipated the long holiday weekend. Despite the slower sales, demand and activity were steady throughout the week with prices remaining stable. One noted difference though was an emphasis by clients that whatever was on order was needed sooner than later. This kept distributors busy shuffling orders and filling in what the mills were unable to do with product mix or timely deliveries.
