Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

The eastern spruce lumber market saw slight improvement in activity and sales last week over the previous week, despite prices continuing to falter. The mills struggled to sell the excess supply they had on certain items, pressuring their relative value in the market. There was also an announcement from Arbec, a major eastern mill, ceasing operations indefinitely at their L’Acension mill due to current market conditions, the high cost of logs and securing enough of them to fuel future production.
