It was decidedly quieter Wednesday in the eastern spruce lumber market ahead of the long holiday weekend, although some eastern Canadian mills did report seeing very good activity and strong sales. With prices as low as they have gotten, it is no surprise some clients saw opportunities and were confident to buy in. It is also known that the mills do not have a large variety of goods to sell, making clients more dependent on local reloads. Distributors have been sellers, following prices down but it would not take much for them to change tactics and their philosophy on selling.
