The eastern mills were the focus in the spruce lumber market yesterday. Buyers gravitated to them, seeking out the items they had for sale. The supply and variety of products from them were less than it has been. Some things were only available in August, when those that take summer shutdowns return. They also demonstrated a firmer attitude on their pricing and what they would accept for counters. Distributors were not as aggressive as they have been and were becoming more protective on items they were running low on.
