The scramble was on in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Buyers hustled to secure shipments and whatever products they needed or could use from the mills before many of them go into their vacation shutdown modes. There were still some items available that the mills could deliver within the next couple of weeks, but they were increasingly more difficult to find. Prices were firmer with very little wiggle room compared to what it has been. There was a positive shift in optimism and confidence felt by many in the marketplace.
