Strong demand propelled very good activity and sales for the eastern spruce lumber mills yesterday. Clients gravitated to them for the things they needed while distributors looked for any leftover opportunities the Canadian mills had, ahead of increasing export duties due to be implemented in early August. There was also a growing feeling among many that the cheaper prices seen recently are passe and an appreciation of them is more likely. Distributors are already attaining higher levels on more recent orders.
