Activity ramped up yesterday in the eastern spruce lumber market. More orders were transacted than in previous days as demand was widespread, encompassing more clients and products. The mills were busy throughout the day fielding inquiries and responding with “no quote” in many situations. Trader frustration levels rose as the lack of supply made things increasingly more difficult to find what was needed or asked for. Shipments from many the mills pushed out to mid-August on firm to higher prices.
