Demand was moderate in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. This combined with continued tight supply in the market enabled sales and helped push prices higher. The hope among clients is that mill production will get back online sooner than later, despite various struggles to do so, and help stem the tide of potentially escalating prices. Despite slower sales for them, the Canadian mills have also been asking higher prices on recent quotes to help offset the increase in export duties going into effect Monday.
