It was not a quieter Friday to end last week in the eastern spruce lumber market. Clients were buying, making it one of the busier days of the week for orders, not only for distributors but the mills as well. With all the rumblings in the market concerning strikes, higher duties, low supply and increasing prices, many were more confident that it was better to have lumber coming than not. Add to this, a strong rally in the futures market and you have the makings of a market with a probability of prices going higher not lower.
