Demand and activity were lite to start the week in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. One reason for the lack of orders on the day was the growing concern over the potential rail strike in Canada due to start on Thursday. Another was the continued tight supply of items that buyers were searching for. Both situations caused many to hesitate or put off purchases. Uncertainty reigned especially in the face of having to pay higher prices to procure the things wanted or needed if found.
