Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Last minute fill in highlighted activity on Friday to end the week in the eastern spruce lumber market. It was expectably quieter ahead of the long holiday weekend. The mills struggled to sell the 2x4 items they had for sale during the week, often taking small counters to move product. The lack of bigger logs limited their production of 2x6 and wider widths, which continued to be in high demand and tight supply. Retailers were busier but were able to cover their needs more effectively from distributor’s diversified inventories.
