It was a busy day for many traders in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Much of the activity and the orders generated were centered around distributors’ diversified inventories and their quick shipments. The mills on the other hand had a quieter day of sales. They lacked many of the items that buyers were seeking. If they did have them, their asking prices were much higher than expected and were a turnoff. Buyers looked to alternative species as a possibility to cover certain needs.
