Demand and activity were typical for a busy Monday in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. There was the usual fill in by retailers to shore up inventories after the weekend, along with checking on late or expected deliveries from suppliers. Traders did their homework, examining what the mills had to offer while tending to their client’s needs. Last week’s news of more mill closures and shutdowns did little to stir or motivate clients to change their buying habits, buying what was needed and little else.
