It was a breakout day in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Very strong demand resulted in a high number of orders being transacted. Retailers took no chances on waiting, committing to price and product when seeing what they wanted. Some procrastinated though, only to find that either prices were higher, or the item was no longer available. One current problem facing clients was that quoted prices on some items were considerably higher than published numbers, leading to doubt, confusion, and indecision.
