Last Friday was busier than expected to end the week in the eastern spruce lumber market. Clients looked to cover needs that had cropped up or were difficult to fill during the week. A lack of supply and higher prices kept them actively searching for viable options to fulfill the demand they had. Although retailers voiced a slowdown in business, their lean inventories always kept them looking to maintain supplies. Distributors did their best to fill those needs, but voids in their inventories kept the mills selling and the market buzzing.
