Demand lessened, activity slowed, and orders were more difficult to come by in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. The mills were quieter also, not getting many new orders. There was some back-to-back business with them, but traders ran into a two-tiered market on some items competing against wholesale positions that were selling at, or under, mill replacement prices. Much of the business transacted was reload generated from clients filling in holes in their inventories with specific items and timely deliveries.
