Steady demand and tight supply drove activity in the eastern spruce lumber market last week. Although transactions were less than in previous weeks, prices continued to climb higher with many items up by double digits. Retailers have seen a recent surge of demand from their clientele lately putting pressure on their existing inventories to care for. The hope is that the recent price increases will help bolster mill production and put more product on the market, but many are beginning to believe otherwise.
