Demand was specific and activity was light on Friday to end a quieter week in the eastern spruce lumber market. Prices were soft from the weak demand but less than seemed. The mills remained resistant to large counters pointing to the lack of supply of many items. Although they struggled to sell, they also had difficulties in producing many of the items that were being sought. Most lengths and grades of 2x4 were the weakest but production and supply were sporadic and inconsistent on the other widths.
