The scramble began to take shape in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday as time became of the essence to getting things done with the holiday season fast approaching. Although the number of orders transacted was less than stellar on the day, buyers made inroads on the inventories that were needed or of value to have. The mills had a plateful of items to sell along with keeping an open mind as to where they would trade at. Some compromises were made but they were selective and not all encompassing.
