Activity ramped up in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Traders were out in force, covering orders previously taken or vigorously going after the mills to put back-to-back business together with them. The mills were very busy, compromising with or rebuffing the many counters given. Some took their hits and moved on. It all depended on the product available, and the situations presented. All in all, the mills were ardent participants in the market as many prepared for a two-week hiatus of production.
