Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

The New Year started on a busier note in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Traders kept active sourcing demand while getting acclimated with the market. Little had changed over the last couple of weeks. Prices were stagnant and mill supply remained lite. Clients kept inventories lean, replenishing as needed from distribution with little speculation. Mill shipments are within two weeks, keeping purchases conservative. There was much uncertainty observed on the direction of the market and the talk of higher tariffs.
