Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Continued strong demand and activity kept the eastern spruce lumber market humming yesterday. Traders were busy throughout the day sourcing inquiry and trying to put orders together, some more successful than others. Prices varied greatly on quotes depending on the item, client, or situation. Some didn’t make any sense or were justifiable. The mills were more standoffish and firmer with prices, not having the reserves expected. Many could not or would not quote many of the items asked for. Distributors turned defensive with the heightened demand.
