Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

There was lighter demand and fewer orders transacted in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. The eastern Canadian mills took various approaches to selling into the U.S. market. Some sold what they had on the ground regardless of a potential new tariff. Some sold with a contingency of cancellation. Others tried selling by passing on a new tariff if implemented. Regardless of the tactic, new orders were limited for them. Uncertainty reigned. Those with stateside inventories benefitted the most.
