Sales and activity were on the quieter side in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday as MLK day and the inauguration took center stage for many. Winter weather over a large part of the eastern U.S. also had its effect in slowing the flow of products to and from various concerns. The decision of potential additional tariffs on Canadian exports was delayed enabling more Canadian mills to come back on the market. Order files for most of them are thin but certain items remain tight in supply. Prices were mixed with some sharp contrasts.
