Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

It was a quieter and more subdued eastern spruce lumber market that took shape yesterday. Demand was lite. Mill offerings were sparse. Orders were hard to attain. It led to a difficult day for traders. Uncertainty of additional tariffs on Canadian exports was the leading culprit. It held the Canadian mills at bay and clients from making any long-term purchases or commitments. Many Canadian mills sold only what they could deliver ahead of an announced date of February 1st to see if there will be an additional tariff on Canadian lumber.
