Demand and activity came back to life in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday, gaining momentum throughout the day. Some Canadian mills had trucks that could be delivered ahead of the proposed February 1st announcement concerning additional tariffs on Canadian exports that spurred interest. Slight counters were taken to help facilitate these transactions but nothing dramatic was seen. The cloud of uncertainty concerning higher tariffs was still evident though, hampering buying decisions for many concerns.
